Hi Friends
Anyone who has seen us on stage knows that I am the vocals of 'Speed Limit'. I am also the one who introduces the songs and I take a lot of flack for not letting Tony speak (as most people would put it).
The fact is he is quite happy to concentrate on playing the steel guitar and indeed does not want a microphone anywhere near him.
Another thing that has to be done is learning the lyrics and arrangements of new songs. Most people think artists just know them automatically.
We organise holidays in England, Portugal, Spain, America and Holland. This entails a lot of work. Flights, and hotels have to be booked, artists, coaches and all the correspondence that has to be dealt with including the mail shots.
Then there are the programmes, place mats and badges to design and produce.
I really do enjoy doing all these things most of the time. It certainly beats waking up each morning to an alarm clock and working all day for someone else. I do get upset when I receive comments like "what do you do all day cos you don't have a proper job do you"? OR when we have arrived home at 4 am, had a hot drink and have gone to bed at 5 am, the telephone rings at 9.30 am the person on the other end says "did I wake you, were you still in bed? Oh! you are lazy".
There, I feel better now having got that off my chest.
Our Personal Holidays
The very first holiday Tony and I had together was in Cornwall. Tony told me that when he was in his teens he loved to go body boarding.
We booked our one week holiday in a log cabin on a holiday park in St Agnes called Little Orchard. The cove is quite small there, with a good beach and if the weather is right the surf is perfect.
After buying boards and wet suits we were ready to have the time of our lives.
Most people want sunshine and calm sea's when on holiday, we wanted good waves and the weather to be a little rough. We got it and were hooked.
We enjoyed many holidays in Cornwall, mostly in St Agnes. Once our sons Simon and Matthew joined us with a few of their friends. We never asked them again because after a good evening out in the local pub they decided to strip off and streak down to the sea (a couple of yards away), for some skinny dipping, leaving their clothes strewn everywhere.
Being caring parents, we climbed the trees to retrieve their socks, picked their jeans off gate posts and picked up their shoes from people's gardens. We will leave the rest to your imagination.
We also enjoyed a few holidays in Newquay, which has a wonderful setting for surfing, Fistral Beach.
One year Mervyn J Futter and his wife Marianne joined us, we had great fun.

When we started organising 'Jet Stream' holidays the surfing was put on the back burner. That is until last year when we were trying to think of a really nice holiday to take our Grandson Sebastian and our son (his Dad Simon) on. What better than to introduce Seb to body boarding.

In August 2009 we went to Hayle, in Cornwall to a Haven caravan park. We booked a six berth caravan that was in a prime position, overlooking the beach. We had a gig in Northampton on the Saturday evening so travelled through the night after the gig to Bristol to pick Si and Seb up. It was exciting making that journey with a six year old in the dark. Hayle is near St Ives (many miles) but it was worth it. Because of the gig we lost one day of our holiday which was such a shame but when you make a commitment with regards to a booking you have to honour it. |

We were not sure what Seb would think to body boarding. We bought him a really nice wet suit and a good body board and headed for the beach. What can I say; he took to it like a duck to water or should I say a seal to water cos that's what he looked like. He was really good. In no time he showed just how skilful and natural he was at this sport. Of course, Tony said it was because of all the tuition he gave him and also because he takes after his Pop's (that's what Seb calls Tony). The reason he calls him Pop's is because when Tony knew he was going to be a Grandfather he said he was too young so the child would have to call him Pop's it sounded cooler. |

Tony, Si and Seb had such a good time and so did I. Whilst on holiday we visited Flambards, which is an amusement park with rides such as big dippers and water chutes. We have photographs of that day but I refuse to show you them. The look of pure fear on my face and the fact that this is a family web-site means there is definitely no place for wet T-shirt photo's. |

We also played bowls and tennis on the beach which was fun. Hopefully we will be returning this summer. Seb can't wait and neither can we. He is such a joy to be with. I do hope you enjoy viewing the photographs I took. It would seem I was the official photographer; still, I would rather be behind the camera than in front of it. |

Seb said he wanted to look like a real surfer), with his hair all gelled. The picture of Tony and Seb in the caravan is when I had put half a pot of gel on Seb's hair and to Tony's disgust plastered the other half on his hair. It really is surprising what a grown man will do for his grandson! Seb told Tony he needed to colour his hair the same colour a his. Tony refuses to, but who knows, next time you see us at a gig he just might be blond! |

GOOD TIMES
We have made so many good friends in Country Music. I suggested to Tony that it would be nice to spend an evening (not working) with some of them.
I came up with the idea of a group of us (no invites, just if friends wanted to join us that was great), going for a meal at the Grain Barge in Peterborough.
The Grain Barge is a Cantonese restaurant on the river next to the embankment in Peterobough.
The owners are friends of ours and we knew they would welcome our Country Music friends.
There were nineteen of us who enjoyed a four course set meal. The food was delicious; Everyone was in good spirits and thought it was a great idea for a group of like minded people to spend an evening together.
I think we should do something like that again. Maybe return to The Grain Barge and/or visit Peterborough Greyhoud Stadium for a meal and a good night out, go ten pin bowling or indeed anything our friends (YOU) would like to do, give us your thoughts.
This was not a 'Speed Limit' night out it was a friendship 'GOOD TIMES' together event. As long as you want to enjoy yourself anyone is welcome. This was a last minute idea and we apologise if you never got to hear about it. If you would like to receive information on the next 'GOOD TIMES' event let us know. Hopefully we will all get together two or three times a year that would be so much fun.
Below are a few photographs Tony and I took.

A LOVELY TRUE STORY
