The hotel Nobis is famous for its unique architecture. It is a Best Western hotel situated on the outskirts of Aston which is near Eindhoven. It has extremely spacious, tastefully furnished rooms all en-suite, each with a TV, radio and hairdryer.

The hotel facilities are wonderful, with an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness centre, jacuzzi and hot-tub that is available to all the guests.

Our own private function room with a good sized dance floor and dancing to suit all tastes.

This was the first holiday we had arranged by coach/ferry and it certainly was a success.

Two coaches set off, one from East Anglia, the other from the west country full of happy people with smiling faces and that's just how they were for the whole holiday.

There was an organized excursion each day. The first day we gave everyone a choice of visiting the town of Roermond or going to Liberty Park, which is a museum in Overloon. It was here that the greatest tank battle in Dutch history took place in the autumn of 1944. It is now the location of the Dutch National War & Resistance Museum. World War II is presented in a special way here with artifacts & displays.

The second day took us to Efteling and a World of Wonders. It really is impossible to put into words just how magical this place is. Nearly every childhood story is told in the form of animated, life size figures. Each setting is enchanting. There is also a very large theme park where we rode on the beautiful Carrousels. We boarded the Pagoda (a floating temple) which took us high in the air and gave us a chance to take panoramic photographs.

The next excursion was probably the most popular one. It was to the Netherlands open air museum. It gave us all an insight into how the Dutch used to live and provided hands-on experience of life in the Netherlands of yesteryear. At a number of sites the 'occupants' gave us a first-hand taste of bygone days. They had fascinating stories to tell!

There was so much to see. Farm houses, workers houses, the bakery, the paper mill, the printing establishment, the dairy farm,the fisherman's cottage, the Moluccan barracks, the oil mill, plenty of working windmills plus the costume museum, there is not enough space to list everything but it is safe to say no-one was disappointed.
